ROUTE 66

Route 66 is the most famous highway in the United States and perhaps in all the world.  Route Sixty-Six has been a key part of books like John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" movies like Disney's "Cars" and television with "ROUTE 66", "Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations", and most recently a reality TV show "The Great American Road Trip.   This famous road has been given many nicknames like "The Mother Road", "Main Street USA" and "Will Rogers Highway".

Historic ROUTE Sixty-Six starts in Chicago IL and winds it way through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California where it ends just past Los Angeles in Santa Monica.  Some parts of the US ROUTE 66 have been turned into interstates or major highways, some parts are simple two lane road and small sections are not open to auto traffic any longer.   There are some incredible attractions that include Maramec Caverns, "Leaning Water Tower of Britten", Cadillac Ranch, Hackberry General Store, Oatman Road, and many more great diners and stores.   Without a doubt, anyone who chooses to trace the old path will "Get their kicks on Route Sixty-Six".
